Singapore’s Night Safari
Probably best enjoyed on your own- where you can pretend to be lost in the lush jungles. It’s really difficult to spot the animals in the dark so you have to really concentrate and check where you otherwise wouldn’t. Some of the animals are also asleep or hiding but if you make calls will show up, like the Indian crocodiles who were underwater but were only too happy to start snapping their slender jaws when we repeatedly called out, “hello, hello.”
Best moment was capturing this bat in its astounding bat suit!

An Irishman in Texas

A staunch Irishwoman who had never travelled out of Ireland all her life, the last thing I thought this occupational therapist would love would be Country Music. But she did, lapped it all up, couldn’t get enough of the catchy tunes, easy melodies, and achy-breaky heart lyrics. She eventually went home with a collection of CD’s, and by now, learning about MP3’s, must still be downloading them like crazy whenever she has the time.
Here’s a great database of Country Music Lyrics to sigh, cry, and laugh your troubles away.
Origins of the Blue Cross
The last thing I would think I would find out about the Blue Cross is at Fort Siloso in Singapore. But there it was, just a small strip, but it spoke volumes of the atrocities that Japanese exacted on literally everyone they encountered and conquered during World War II. The Blue Cross, sister of the Red Cross, was in charge of sweeping up the dead bodies from the streets, doing the stuff that needed to be done but no one wanted to do.
