Don’t drink the water in Virginia
According to this article in the New York Times, Jennifer Hall-Massey knows not to drink the tap water in her home near Charleston, W.Va because although it may quench your immediate thirst, it will also ravage your body in the long term.
Her youngest son has scabs on his arms, legs and chest where the bathwater — polluted with lead, nickel and other heavy metals — caused painful rashes. Many of his brother’s teeth as shown in the picture above were capped to replace enamel that was eaten away.
Neighbors apply special lotions after showering because their skin burns. Tests show that their tap water contains arsenic, barium, lead, manganese and other chemicals at concentrations federal regulators say could contribute to cancer and damage the kidneys and nervous system.
So much for living in the first world and its many comforts.

What is she doing?
Is this a new way to play golf? Apparently she is trying to read her putt. It makes for a hilarious picture and for some ... obscene. But this Korean professional player uses this move as her signature way to read putts. Is she just trying to get some attention? I hope it works out for her whichever it is that she is trying to achieve.

DIY v Professional A/V Set Up
It just isn't the same, even when you get your sound-system crazy friends to help you set up your Audio-Visual theater at home. Personally, I just have a very simple Bose speaker for my mp3 player and I think it sounds fine. But when I went to my friend's place who is a total audiophile, it dawned on me that being contented with fine is definitely not good.

Apparently, the custom-fitting wasn't just about taking space restrictions and budgets into consideration. The entire family, not just the person who insisted on getting the professional set-up, was actually interviewed to see how the system can meet each person's needs, from personalized remote controls to piping music throughout the house from a central control area. And then even if all the equipment is of the highest quality, including the plates, wiring and mounting which were amazingly invisible, budgets were met and plans were carefully worked out with everyone involved.
Of course, all this costs money so I'm really stuck with my Bose speakers which isn't cheap for me already. No way that I can even conceive of having a home theatre although I do have a 43" LCD TV. But hey, if you've got the money, this is certainly one way that it should be spent. And if you happen to live in Southern California, you should definitely get some cool Home Theater Systems San Diego to spice up dull days.
