Best time to travel in and around Australia

Although many graduating students are worried about finding a job after school, the fact is, no amount of fretting is going to help. Even people who have been let go or are on 3 day work weeks should take this time to reassess and just have a great time travelling. Why? Look at the air fares right now- cheap, cheap and cheap!

Even Singapore & Qantas airlines have become budget fare- offering sub S$1,000 tix for 2 cities in Australia including return tix to Singapore. And if you think Aussie accommodation is expensive, think again.

Best Western Hotels are slashing their prices while still offering great rooms and service. The one that I highly recommend is in the sleepy town of Pemberton, Western Australia. Although there are other bed and breakfast joints there, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the warm and cozy BW in a heartbeat.

Another great choice would be Rydges Hotels which is having a mega sale right now and is worth checking out. They have much fewer locations but are in the major cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney.

Finally, for the loan-ladened student, nothing beats the price of staying at a Comfort Inn, especially if you're travelling in a big group and can take advantage of their 6 person rooms. What's amazing also, of course, is that they are everywhere! They're not fancy and nothing to ooh and aah over, but hey you're going to be outside anyway.

A Faraway Valentine

Lots of Singaporeans and Aussies will not be with their beloved on Valentine's day but there's no reason not to send your love in flowers. With so many online shops these days, it's easy to pick out the best to show how much you care. And whether male or female, we all enjoy flowers, except perhaps if you're Chinese and over 50- you'll just fret about the cost but secretly be elated.

Adelaide flowers has an incredible selection of roses. From single to dozen long stem in really nice packaging. Of all the ones for sale (and there's a lot of variety and arrangements so take your time) these are my personal favourite. By the way, you can shop by price or by type of flower or by season.

Finally, nothing beats the Rustic Regal for me if its flowers for friends or family. Go check them out!

Hitting the Pubs in Sydney

There are a lot- and yet for someone who is unfamiliar with Sydney, there might as well be none.  Thank goodness for the internet, right?  A place where all sorts of inane, trivial, and in this case mighty important information-PUBS!- can be found.  Check out the guide for pub sydney broken up into areas so you don't have to worry your little head as to whether there is a pub near you or not.

Here's a pic because it explains way more than words ever can.
